Viking Ships

When I was doing research for Troll Blood I went to Denmark and had a holiday sailing on a replica Viking ship, the Roar Ege, built by the Viking Ship Museum at Roskilde.  I learned a lot!  Here are some photos - click on the small images to see the big version.

My First Book

I so badly wanted to read more stories about Narnia, that I wrote some myself. I was ten years old when I made this book. I could never have imagined it would appear on my own website years later. (Colour TV was exciting when I was ten. Computers were bigger than large refrigerators and only scientists used them. And no one had thought of the internet.) But I’m sure I would have been thrilled!

Dapple, my pony

Here is Dapple, the lovely pony I used to have. He was very intelligent and could untie knots with his teeth. If I tied his leading rope to a fence and turned my back, he would sneakily undo the knot – then wait to see my expression!

The blacksmith fixes a loose shoe, while Dapple dozes off.

Ready for a good trek over the fields. I’m riding bareback, in wellies and a very old coat.
